PRC Beijing October 11, according to Xinhua news web site of the State Council Information Office, October 10, Wang Chen, director of the State Council Information Office, met with U.S. President and CEO of News Corporation Rupert Murdoch.
Wang Chen of Murdoch's visit was welcomed. He said that the world's media summit was very successful. Chinese President Hu Jintao at the opening ceremony and delivered an important speech, showed that the Chinese Government has always attached great importance to and actively promote the Chinese media and foreign media in various fields, strengthen exchanges and deepen cooperation. Wang said that China's 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing during the Olympic Games, as well as before and after the Olympics, respectively, of the State Council promulgated Decree 477 and Decree 537, both the State Department is consistent with the spirit of order, that the Chinese government welcomes foreign media coverage, will continue to work for them in China to facilitate the work and services. We are willing to work with News Corp. media of various countries, including various forms of cooperation, and jointly promote the healthy development of the world's media industry, and jointly promote the building of a harmonious world.
Mr. Murdoch said that the world media to enhance the successful holding of the summit between Chinese and foreign media, communication and cooperation, the friendship between Chinese and foreign media and writing a new chapter.
Attending the meeting were Dow Jones & Company editor and chief editor of The Wall Street Journal, Robert Thomson, News Corporation, vice president and Star (China) Co., Ltd. CEO Jack Gao, Dow Jones Asia-Pacific vice president and CEO Bruce MacFarlane .
